Great Britain Football Club was initially set-up to feed the hunger for football within the Washington Metro area for all British Embassy based personnel.
The team comprises of personnel from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, British Defence Staff and other British Government departments, along with spouses and partners of employees.
The team mainly plays against other Nations in the form of their embassies, and also enters into local tournaments, though are open to challenges from any other team out there.
The team is currently "managed" by:
Matt Hammond - Manager
Danny Collyer - Captain
Emma Caughlin - Club Secretary
The team is open to all ages, abilities and sexes. A group of people just out to get some fresh air, have some fun and keep up their fitness levels, all we ask is that players respect each other, the officials and the opposition but importantly have fun.
Our current "home" pitch is located at Bretton Woods, Potomac Maryland where we try and play every two weeks - weather permitting.
GBFC is currently sponsored by UKTI, Star International Movers and the various welfare funds within the British Embassy.
